I am the true vine and my father is the gardener. Jn. 15:5
I’ve heard it said that God loves us too much to leave us the way we are. Scripture tells us that we who are in Christ are being transformed from glory to glory… and also that for now we see as through a glass dimly. But one day, we will see clearly and it will all make sense.
Our Abba Father, our heavenly daddy is also…
The Potter to mold and shape… sometimes break and remake;
The Refiner to hold over the fire… just long enough to let impurities surface to be removed without totally melting us in the process;
The Gardener to prune, meticulously, everything in us, in our lives, that is not bearing the best fruit, fruit that will last…
Break, burn away, cut… it all hurts when we are attached to things in our lives that are not honoring Him or leading us closer to His perfect plan and purpose for our lives. Although there is purpose in our heartache and pain, it takes a whole lot of quiet strength, patience, hope, and faith in the midst of a changing season. And like the wind that is howling outside at the moment, sometimes we just have to hunker down, keep on praying, keep on trusting, and weather the storm…. it too will pass.
Truly taking up our cross to follow Christ is not for the faint of heart… it takes a courageous resolve to see, accept, and let go of those things in our lives that aren’t bearing good fruit. And although the pain of the break, the burn, and the cutting away runs deep…. breaking the heart and crushing the spirit for a time…. if we allow it to have its way and finish its work, mourning may come for a night, but joy comes in the morning… that is His promise. ♡
Praying for strength and comfort for all who may be going through one of these seasons… just remember, there are better days ahead.
